PPM works by extending the schema to support Password Policy objects where you can define your
desired password policies (see figure below):
- Password length
- Use of alpha characters
- Use of numeric characters
- Maximum consecutive characters
- Maximum instances of any character
- Algorithm comparison with old password
The Administration software is implemented as
an NWAdmin32 and ConsoleOne snap-in for use
with Windows 9x, Windows NT/2000 and
Windows XP Pro. (Support for Novell Portal
Services is included.)
Schema extensions are also made to container classes, such as Organization and Organizational Unit to
include a Password Policy attribute. Through this attribute, you associate the policy to be applied to all
the User objects in the container.

The User software is implemented as a single client side DLL for use
with Novell Client32 on Windows 9x, Windows NT/2000 and
Windows XP Pro.
